| New Leaves on the Nectarine Tree |
Apparently, an alert has been issued by a federal government agency that the state of California is likely to be subject to a drone attack. Well, isn't that just lovely?! As if waiting for "The Big One" (a major earthquake on the San Andreas earthquake fault line which is overdue according to past geologic activities) and the resulting damage was not enough! Why California, I wonder?
So, while we wait for this drone attack...
I spent part of Wednesday tending to the garden with M who watered and weeded and checked on the fruit trees.
And I spent part of Wednesday getting all my tax documents together, downloading certain documents from one website and uploading them to another website and printing out copies with my daughter's assistance as I was getting overwhelmed and stressed and the printer kept having issues. Life was so much easier when all the pertinent documents were mailed to me!
On Thursday, I took the folder of tax documents over to the tax accountant's office and handed them over to the receptionist, who said she will scan the documents and hand them to the accountant. I have an appointment with the tax accountant scheduled for next week, assuming all will be well.
I also finished mending the triangles quilt. It has been washed and dried and will go back on daughter's bed as it's one of her favorite quilts.
And I pulled out one of my "Works In Progress" quilts, to work on it, again. It is made of hexagons using English paper piecing. It has been a while since I last worked on it, but, I'd like to finish it this year, again, assuming all goes well.
Friday's plans include sewing, some cooking, and tending to the garden, again, with M.
How is your week coming along? What are your plans for Friday?

A drone attack? Oh how frightening that is. I pray that it won't actually happen Bless.
ReplyDeleteToday (Friday) is just a day for chores. The ironing is calling me 😒
Stay safe and well,
Angie x
It's a bit crazy, isn't it? I, too, hope it doesn't happen. Maybe they wanted to scare us. I hope you were able to get all your chores done and the ironing has been dealt with. Have a lovely weekend.
DeleteLife is uncertain in both the large and small areas, so you just have to keep on doing the best you can. I guess you get used to it, but I think I would be nervous waiting for the big earthquake.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that your tax person is scanning all of your tax documents. We had to do all of that ourselves. Of course, some of them were already online, but not all. I'm sure you feel some relief now that you have them all turned in.
Life is definitely uncertain, June, and one has to do the best one can, as you said. Otherwise, one just says, "What's the use?" and gives up!
DeleteI'm very relieved I could take everything to the tax accountant. I used to do my own taxes at one time, but, now, I prefer to pay and get it done. :)
A drone attack? How crazy is that!?! However, I am glad you are soldiering on and have a clean mended quilt and working on tax stuff. I hate doing the tax work! ugh. Happy Friday the 13th. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYes, it's crazy, isn't it? In the meantime, I'm doing what I need to do and filing taxes is one of them. Happy Friday the 13th to you, too, Diana; hope you've had a lovely and and the weekend ahead will be a good one. :)
DeleteThis morning volunteering, this afternoon household chores. Just stopped for a cuppa, then back to housework...family arrive late tonight
ReplyDeleteA busy day for you, Angela! Enjoy the family visit!
DeleteOh dear, I hadn't heard about the possible drone attack. I did see on the news yesterday that drones had been stolen from a base in the US, so maybe that's why you have an alert. I hope nothing comes of it. We are waiting for a storm system to roll in this evening, thru Sunday, predicted total snow of up to 18 inches! I have tickets with friends to see a musical on Sunday afternoon! I think I'd rather face a pile of snow than a drone attack. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteThe initial report didn't give a lot of details, but, subsequent clarifications say that it was an unverified threat. I, too, am hoping that it comes to nothing. After all, there's nothing much we can do as individuals to avoid a drone attack should one take place, is there? Reminds me a bit of a poster one of my college roommates had - it was a list of actions to take in case of a nuclear attack and started off with some rather sensible sounding things like, step away from windows, remove sharp objects like pens from you pockets, etc., and ended with, bend over forward, put your head between your legs and kiss your, um, behind (the actual word was a 3 letter word starting with A) goodbye! I loved that poster! :D
DeleteI hope the snow storm is not quite as severe as forecast and you are able to attend the musical with your friends on Sunday. Have a lovely weekend, Celie. :)
The thought of a drone attack is so scary. I hope it doesn't happen and that you and your daughter stay safe. You are in my prayers. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. I, too, hope that the people who sent out the alert were mistaken.
DeleteDrone attacks are very scary! Your photo is beautiful. I will be praying for you.
ReplyDeleteYes, Linda; they are certainly not something to joke about. I hope the people who issued the alert were mistaken.
DeleteThank you, Linda. :)
Hopefully working on the quilts is bringing you some peace and stress relief. I hate doing taxes
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Sewing on the quilts is very soothing. I love hand sewing. I used to do my own taxes at one time, but, then, things got a bit complicated and I thought it was better to get them done by an accountant. The downside of that is it costs money; the upside is, they do most of the actual work. :)
DeleteI hope your waiting comes to nothing. That all sounds rather frightening.
ReplyDeleteAnd sorting all those documents must be quite a task. I sometimes think paper is far more simple. Xx
Thank you, Jules. So far, we haven't had anything happen and I am hoping and praying that it stays that way!
DeleteI prefer paper copies of all documents, myself, but, I guess I am very much behind the times when it comes to technology.
I somehow completely missed the drone attack in the news I read. I'm surprised I didn't hear anything about this. It sounds like you made the best of the day though!
ReplyDeleteYes, my state was issued an alert about being a target for a possible drone attack. It was later modified a little bit (in response to questions being asked about the alert, I believe) and the federal agency issuing the alert admitted it was an unverified possibility. Maybe they were "crying wolf" or maybe they just wanted to get everyone's attention. I don't know. So far, we have not been attacked and I am thankful for that! :D
DeleteWhat a time. I've heard of the drones missing and all the different analysis of the possibility of a drone attack.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are rattled by the entire thing. I know I am.
I'm glad you got your tax paperwork in order. And I agree about having the tax documents mailed. Every year I make sure my preferences are set to have them mailed and every year I do not receive them all in the mail.
I, too, have printer issues as I'm still using an old printer someone gave us. I am stubborn and determined to keep it in use.
So I suffer on.
Between the ground opening up below us and the sky opening up above us, we don't have much of a choice, do we? At least I've got my tax documents all gathered and dropped off at the tax accountant's office. Hope you are able to continue using your old printer as long as you would like. :)
DeleteI hope/assume that no news is good news i.e. that it all came to nothing. Crazy times.
ReplyDeleteAt least the nectarine tree is keeping calm and carrying on. :)
So far, so good! Although, yesterday, there was some sort of police activity going on in my neighborhood and a helicopter was circling overhead for hours and I wondered what that was all about! The garden is keeping calm and carrying on, although wondering how it became summer all of a sudden (temperature in the 90s this week!)
