It is always so interesting to see what foods other people enjoy! I had never heard of milk rice until I read about it here...not just today but before, too.
ReplyDeleteI loved French toast when I was a kid and the only time mother ever made it was when we were feeling sick-it was our first "I'm feeling better" food. lol.

Milkrice is essentially rice cooked in milk, usually in coconut milk but regular cow milk maybe used, too. I have not cooked it in other milk such as soy milk or almond milk, etc.

Thank you, Diana; I'm recovering from oral surgery this weekend and I have to wear something called a jaw bra for 36 hours! Including while sleeping!
Not heard it called Bombay Toast before. One old English name 8s Poor Knights Of Windsor. Those lemons look luscious

Yes, milkrice is usually cut into diamonds before it is served. I am not quite sure why, though!
DeleteThank you, June; I have been given something called a jaw bra to wear for 36 hours to keep the swelling down. It has a pocket for an ice pack, which must be on for 20 minutes and off for 20 minutes!
The pancakes look good enough to eat! I don't know if I could manage to keep three "alive" long enough for a photo - make one, and it's gone in a flash! I am never sure what French toast is meant to taste like. First time I had it it was really nice - can't remember where but perhaps made by a Canadian friend. Any since has not lived up so I don't know if she did something special to it or what. Yours looks good - I could probably give it the benefit of the doubt and dive in!

DeleteI suppose the taste of French toast depends a lot on the batter - the ratio of eggs and milk, etc. I like to add a little vanilla essence to my batter because that is what my mother used to do. I've had French toast made with only beaten eggs, no milk, and while I like them, my daughter doesn't.
I am incredibly hungry now. Everything looks so delicious!

DeleteThis particular curry bread is a Japanese version and is deep fried; there is a Sri Lankan version which is baked (I make that with regular bread dough).
