Making Fish Cutlets
Daughter forwarded the pictures she took of the fish cutlets. She forgot to take a picture of the fish and potato mixture, but, the first picture shows the formed cutlets after being dipped in beaten eggs and coated with bread crumbs. The second picture shows the cutlets being deep fried. According to my daughter, the fish cutlets were a hit at the dinner with several of her friends who wanted to know the recipe and how they were made. Which left daughter trying to figure out quantities because we didn't measure anything!

Frying the Fish Cutlets
The potluck dinner turned out well and everyone took some leftovers. In addition to the leftovers, daughter brought home some Vietnamese egg rolls and steamed buns that one of her friends had made for the party and kept aside for her to bring home to share with me. Daughter had taken some extra cutlets to give to that friend and apparently they were shared with the friend's parents and sister, too. The "food-go-round" as one of my friends refers to it is very much in evidence! LOL.

They perfume the whole garden, especially at night.

Bees Enjoying the Orange Blossom Nectar
I hope the bees will pollinate the flowers and we will have a plentiful crop of oranges to enjoy next year. This year's orange crop was a non-event as all the little fruits dropped off the tree in the spring.

Friend R called in the evening and we chatted for a bit. There was a cyclone in Sri Lanka which has resulted in severe flooding and mudslides and over 330 people dead. It's very sad to hear and read about all the devastation.

Your daughter is a great cook! It is quieter now the granddaughters have gone back to London. But very very wet and windy this morning. I am going to craft group
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angela.
DeleteYes, it must be quieter once the granddaughters have left. I'm sorry it's been a wet and windy morning. I hope you enjoyed your time at the craft group. :)
I'm sorry to hear about the cyclone disaster in Sri Lanka. It's always difficult to hear about the suffering of others.
ReplyDeleteOn a more positive note, love the pictures of the orange blossoms and bees. You know how I love the bees. :)
Thank you, June. It's monsoon season in Sri Lanka, but, they are saying that this is the worst flooding they've experienced in decades.
DeleteI thought you'd enjoy the pictures of the orange blossoms and bees. I tried to see if there was a bee with full pollen sacs, but, I didn't spot one.
The cutlets look very neat and even. I am glad that they went down well.
ReplyDeleteIt must be lovely to smell the orange blossom permeating the garden. Not much happening in mine just now - just rain and dead leaves! I trust that more is going on under the ground, ready for spring...
Thank you, Lady Ella. :)
DeleteYes, it's lovely to smell the orange blossoms in the air, especially in the evenings. Your garden is settling down to its long winter's nap. I'm sure it will look lovely in the spring. :)
The fish cutlets look lovely. Of course you can't reproduce the recipe because it was tasted and adjusted to perfection at the time of making! I have to chuckle at the "food go round" in evidence again.
ReplyDeleteThose photos of the orange blossoms are lovely, and remind me of the one time I grew an orange tree in the house and it produced two blossoms, which filled the house with such a wonderful perfume.
There are recipes with measurements and direction for the fish cutlets online and even videos of how they are made. But, we made ours with much tasting and adjusting to get that "just right" taste. :)
DeleteYou did well to grow an orange tree as a houseplant! The flowers do have a most delightful fragrance.
Your fish cutlets look wonderful, and I really like the idea of the food-go-round. It's too bad more friends and neighbors don't share like that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. The cutlets turned out well and our little food-go-round is a good thing. It builds community, I think. :)
