July Week 4 Meal Plan Options Review and July Week 5 Meal Plan Options

These were the meal plan options for July Week 4:

Brunches: Egg salad sandwiches; tuna salad on crackers or toast; uppuma (again; I enjoyed it when I made it earlier); burritos (from the freezer); waffles or pancakes; leftovers

Dinners: Rice and curries (salmon curry, dhal, moringa curry, tomato chutney); fried rice; hamburger patty with salad and corn; ramen noodles/soup; leftovers.

Snacks/Desserts: Fruit, crackers with peanut butter, yogurt and granola, dry cereal, chocolate cake

And here's how that worked out:

Snacks/Desserts: Strawberries, cereal (dry), chocolate

Tuesday:

Saturday:

Sunday:

I went completely off the meal plan after I went grocery shopping on Thursday!  But, that's okay.

Moving on to the last week of July - daughter comes home on Friday night and I plan to order some groceries earlier that day to have half and half, etc., on hand for her morning coffee.  I have salmon already cooked and frozen for Friday night's dinner and there will be leftovers for at least one other meal.  I will also need to buy more chicken and meat, depending on the grocery ads and what's on sale.

These are my meal plan options:.

Brunches: Bolillo roll sandwiches - fillings of tuna salad, egg salad or scrambled eggs, or canned corned beef; milkrice on Friday (August 1), leftover milkrice, cereal and milk

Dinners: Rice and salmon with tomato chutney, broccoli or sauteed beans; rice and chicken curry with dhal and beets; beef pepper steak with vegetables and rice; Breakfast for dinner (?), ramen noodles soup; leftovers; maybe patties if I feel up to making them, or something different!

Snacks/Desserts: Fruit, bread pudding, cereal, crackers and peanut butter, granola bars, cake, yogurt

As always, I am grateful for:
- Having enough and plenty to eat
- Having a variety of food to eat
- Having a choice of what to eat
- Refrigerators and freezers to help preserve the food

How about you?  Will you be making a meal plan this week?

  2. Looks like a lovely selection of food as always.
I have made a meal plan for this week. We'll see how it works out! I'm trying to spend a minimal amount of money and use up some freezer bits.

  3. I love it when I have to look up something you have planned, though I have looked up uppuma several time. I do not like cream of wheat but I think I might like your more savory and toasted version.

    1. I don't like cream of wheat made with milk like oatmeal, myself. But, I do like the Indian way of making it, which is usually made with semolina. Give it a try and see if you like it. :)

  4. Some day I'm going to make a meal plan and then promptly not follow it because I know me. :)

    1. LOL, you do just that, June. It won't be much different than what I do because I still don't follow my meal plan even when I make one! :D

  5. I have frozen cooked chicken breasts which will be for sandwiches later in the week, and I have frozen fish and frozen pork chops but I didn't feel like thawing anything today. However, I decided to use a can of chick peas and make falafel patties in hamburger buns. The mixture is resting and they will have to be baked later but the AC is on.

    1. Sounds like you have made a bit of meal prep to make it easier later in the week. Can the falafel be cooked in a frying pan on the stove? Although, I suppose it is easier to bake them and if you have the A/C on, it should be fine. :)
