Garden Harvests on Friday the Thirteenth

Wax Beans and Squash - The Squash Side

M planted some wax beans and squash in the same planting bed and the plants are flourishing.

The Wax Beans Side

On Friday the thirteenth, I picked the first wax beans:

Wax Bean Harvest

I am pleased with the amount of beans I was able to pick.

I also picked some peaches:

Peaches (in a bowl of water to wash them)

These peaches were not fully ripe, but, they were not bird pecked.  I'm trying to pick the rest of the peaches before the birds get to them.

And I picked the two strawberries that were ripe:

Ripe Strawberries

Such a blessing to be able to pick vegetables and fruits from my garden.
B;In addition, I did two loads of laundry, put some more books back on the bookshelves, called the vet's office for a refill on Dancer's medication, and tended to the garden with M.

On Friday, I was grateful for:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden
- M's help with the garden
- Water for the garden
- Working appliances
- A relaxed day

Friday's joyful activity was spending time in the garden and picking some fruits and vegetables.

How was your Friday?  Are you superstitious about Friday the thirteenth?

  1. I know you like your peaches before they are overly ripe. Will you let these ripen? I am not suspicious about Friday the 13th, but it does give me pause.

    1. These peaches are almost ripe and I will let them ripen fully as I want to make a small batch of jam with them. :)

  4. you are lucky to be able to pick the veggies and fruits from your backyard. Right now the apples on my trees are not fully grown and so far it is squirrels about 20, Anne 0. There might be a couple on branches that will not hold the squirrels weight I may be able to harvest.

    1. Thank you, Anne. I am sorry that the squirrels are winning when it comes to the apples on your trees. Reminds me of a story book I read to my daughter, in which two children grew an apple tree from seed and the tree produced a lovely crop of apples; they were waiting to pick them the following morning, but, that night, a family of raccoons ate all the apples and there was nothing left for the children to pick! I am battling the birds, but, the tree produces enough to share!

  5. I'm envious of those delicious, fresh peaches.
There still aren't any flowers on my little lemon trees. Maybe next year... X

    1. I wish I could share the peaches with you, Jules.
Your lemon trees and my apple seedling, and even the new raspberry plant - they are all growing well, but, no signs of any flowers. Maybe your lemon trees will surprise you later in the summer or early fall.
