Quiet but Productive Wednesday

It was grey and drizzly, this morning, when I went to work.  The drizzle was more towards downtown, not near my home, so the garden didn't benefit at all!

I had a productive day at the office.  We were all given two monitors for our computers (prior to this, only some people had two monitors) and I am enjoying that, very much, although I jokingly asked my colleague if we are now expected to produce twice as much work!

I called the nurse practitioner during my morning break to ask about the iron supplement dosage and left her a message to call me back.  She was probably busy, because she didn't return my call.

I also called another clinic regarding a bill they had sent me.  Again, I had to leave a message, as I called during my lunch break and maybe they, too, were at lunch, but they didn't return my call. This is a bill I had called about, previously, in March and I had referred it to my insurance, who had said they will follow up and take care of it (I have written down the dates and the names of the people I spoke with, in my notes).  I will call back, tomorrow.  It is not for a big amount and it is something I would have paid, except the insurance had sent me a letter saying I was not required to pay this amount and I had provided a copy of the letter to the clinic and that should have been that!  But they keep billing me for it!   Once before, too, I paid a $400 medical bill for a service rather than refer it to insurance, simply to avoid being billed over and over again and having to call the billing department and the insurance company and deal with it!  They know how to wear you down!

I put gas to the car on my way home; almost $30 worth at $3.53/gal., so that has been taken care of.  I currently budget $50/week for gas, although I rarely put more than $30/week.  Maybe, when I retire, I will reduce the weekly gas budget to $30/week and see how that works out.

There was bright sunshine when I came home, which was nice.  I did two loads of laundry after I got home (daughter's quilt and a load of regular clothes and towels).  I am hoping the quilt will dry by Friday night, as she will be home then.  If not, I'll pull out another quilt for her.  I've plenty of quilts!  My clothes and towels will dry overnight and during the day, tomorrow.  I am still using the old laundry detergent - not the new box I bought, yesterday.  There's enough of the old laundry detergent for at least one more load.  I should put up a piece of paper on the laundry room wall and make a mark each time I do a load of laundry with the new box of laundry detergent to see if I will really be able to do 68 loads with it!  The box seems awfully small for that many loads of laundry!  Or, maybe, I use too much detergent per load?

Later, I wrote an email to a friend and video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Sunny evenings
- A productive day at the office
- What I was able to accomplish today
- Friends who keep in touch, regularly
- Chatting with my daughter

  1. Good luck with straightening out your bill. Sometimes I, too, pay a bill just to stop the paperwork, but that's only for very small amounts.

    1. Thanks, Live and Learn. I might just do that - pay it off - just to be done with it!

  2. I, on the other hand, will not let a mistake by the billing company go by without a fight. I will go after them for a dime if they are the ones who messed up. I must have a very antagonistic personality. I probably waste too much energy going after those mistakes, but I rationalize it as protecting my principles. Ha.

    1. LOL, Susan, that is what I am doing now, with this particular bill! But, to fight such things, one must have stamina! When I was in the throes of undergoing chemo, I didn't have the stamina to fight a bill - I took the easy way out! It was worth the peace of mind, for me, at the time!
