Clothing Combinations

At one time, I had a rule that every item of clothing I bought (unless it was formal wear) had to be able to be mixed and matched and worn with at least three other items in my closet.  It was relatively easy with solid colors as most solid colors would go with other, neutral solid colors.  Even when items of clothing are given to me, I try to maximize their mix and match capabilities.

One of the newest garments I have is the blouse my cousin gave me for Christmas.  I wore it with a pair of black pants to the office and with a black skirt to go to lunch with my friend:

I also tried it out with a pair of white denim pants:

With White Pants

The pants are a bit too big, now, and baggy, as you can see.  But, I think the blouse works well with them for a slightly different look.  And I am thinking it will probably go with the long white skirt I have, too (although I haven't tried out that combination, yet).

What do you think?

  2. Love it with the white ... it makes the white in the blouse really stand out and the design really pops. The black looks a little too dark and heavy (to me). Very nice!

    1. Thank you, Carolyn. I, too, thought it looked better with the white. Never mind what they say about having the same color top and bottom, and so forth.

    1. It does appear better with the white pants, doesn't it?

  4. It looks better with the white since it is summer, but looks very nice with the black for a winter look.

    1. Yes, white is better suited for the summer, although I've been known to wear white even in the winter, at times. Oh, I am such a rebel at times! LOL.

  5. You've got a great year round piece. White for summer and black for colder weather.
Just recently found your blog and I'm really enjoying it.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. :) The white does seem to lighten it up, doesn't it?

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella. I tend to pair it with a pair of black pants (slacks) for the most part, these days. I no longer have the white denim pants shown in the picture above.
