Slow Tuesday

Today was another overcast, cool day.  "May Gray" it is called.  In June, we'll have "June Gloom".  Both are due to the effects of the marine layer.

I went to the office today and had a rather productive day at the office.  Someone had brought some pies to the office (chocolate, apple, and berry) and I had a slice of the apple pie.  It was yummy!

On the way home, I went to the pharmacy to pick up another refill.  It was one I asked about, when I was at the pharmacy, yesterday.  I was told it won't be ready until May 11.  Instead, I got a text at 10:00 a.m. this morning saying it was ready!  Fortunately, the pharmacy isn't that far from my house.

Once I got home, whatever energy I had, vanished.  I brought the trash cans in, called my daughter to chat with her, had a cup of coffee, called my neighbor T to check on her, went through the mail and this week's grocery ads (eggs on sale for $.89 at one store; cherries on sale for $.99/lb. at another), had dinner, and emailed a friend, but didn't do any housework.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Colleagues bringing in treats to share at the office
- Medication refills being available
- Medical insurance that helps to pay for the medications
- My hair is growing out
- A working heater

Tuesday's To Do List:

- Bring trash cans in - DONE
- Go to the office - DONE
- Pharmacy - DONE
- Wash daughter's bed sheets
- Water the seedlings
- Dust - living room, dining room, family room, bedroom

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Go to the office
- Doctor's appointment
- Wash daughter's bed sheets
- Water the seedlings
- Dust - living room, dining room, family room, bedroom

How was your Tuesday?  What have you planned for Wednesday?

  1. We've been having a lot of May Gray days, too. I haven't heard that expression before. I'm going to start using it.

    1. It's very descriptive, isn't it? I love the terms the meteorologists come up with - in addition to May Gray and June Gloom, we also have a "No Sky July", although that is not as commonly used (they usually say "June Gloom in July"). One of my favorite weather terms has to be the Pineapple Express, which is a mass of moisture laden air or "atmospheric river" that flows from the waters near the Hawaiian Islands and bring rain.

  2. Being grateful is so important and you do that very well! I love pies...so nice of that person to bring some in. Funny how your prescription wasn't in and then was after you got home! Andrea

    1. I started keeping a gratitude journal during a very stressful time in my life when it seemed all I could do was focus on the negatives. There were a thousand little complaints and I needed to stop that! So, I started to counteract with the blessings. I challenged myself to come up with 100 things for which to be grateful, starting with the most basic, and it just grew and grew! I couldn't stop at 100, I think I went to at lest 125 and knew I could do another 125 if I needed to! I was alive, I could breathe unaided, I could see, I could hear, I could speak, I had all my limbs, I could use them, I was relatively healthy, had my family, my friends, my home, running water, electricity, a car, I could drive, I had a job, a steady income, health insurance, etc., etc., etc. Against that back drop, what I didn't have and couldn't do and all the other grumbles didn't seem to matter as much. :)

    2. Oops! Typo! That should have been "at least 125"!

  3. A productive day at the office, picked up Rx, bought in trash cans, made 2 phone calls and e-mailed a friend is more than enough. I often had days like that toward the end of my career!

Oh I would love some of those cherries on sake for .99 lb - what a bargain.

I did my weekly shop this morning. Happy to find a 4lb bag of white sugar for $1 which is perfect for us as I was just about out. Neither hubby or I take sugar in our
tea or coffee but like to have on hand.

Out with some old retired work mates for lunch.

    1. Thanks, Sandy. I guess I did do enough for a working day. :) I love "loss leaders" like the cherries for $.99/lb! I haven't shopped for them, yet, though. Maybe on Friday; that way, daughter can enjoy some, as well. 4 lbs. sugar for $1 is a very good buy! Those 4 lb. bags are usually on sale for $1.99, here; occasionally for $1.79. Hope you enjoyed your lunch out with former colleagues.

  4. I have never heard the terms May Gray or June Gloom but I will be suing them on the next foul weather day!

    1. Don't forget "No Sky July"! It began with June Gloom and people would say, "We are having June Gloom in May" or "June Gloom in July". So, someone came up with May Gray, which is being used a lot. No Sky July is still not used as much, but it might catch on, eventually.
