Sleeping in on Saturday

Today, I slept in.  For the first time in weeks, I slept for almost eleven hours!  I kept waking up, but kept going back to sleep, each time, and finally woke up after noon!  I guess I must have been tired.

The down side of sleeping till so late is half the day is already gone by the time you wake up!  I texted my daughter and messaged a friend, made myself a cup of coffee, went on-line for a bit, boiled manioc (cassava/yuca) for breakfast, and did the dishes.

Later in the afternoon, I started working on a project; I had some help, as you can see:

Helpful Kitty
He's always there to help me when I work on a project, especially if it involved fabric!

Always ready to lend a helping paw!

Later in the evening, I watered the front garden.

The vegetable seedlings are coming along quite well:

Tomato Plant
The tomato plant has some flowers, already!

Zucchini Plant 1
The zucchini plants are alive and growing!

Zucchini Plant 2
And the lone patty pan squash plant:

Patty Pan Squash Plant
It was the only one that survived being transplanted, but, if it grows and produces, then, I should have all the patty pan squash I'd want to eat, I'm sure!

One of my cousins phoned and I had a nice chat with her.  She keeps in touch with many others and always fills me in on what's happening with family and friends.

Dinner was pasta, to which I added the last of the salmon, flaked.  The tomato and onions in the salmon dish made up a sort of sauce for the pasta.  Snacks were the last of the cherries and some crackers with peanut butter and a bit of my apple/pomegranate jam.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in and catch up on my sleep
- Vegetable plants are coming up nicely
- A nice chat with my cousin
- A helpful kitty!
- Water for my garden

Saturday's To Do List:

  1. You must have needed the sleep Bless. No point fighting it although I agree, the negative side of a good lie in is the day is cut short.

Dancer is a beautiful looking pussy cat. Love how he's claimed your project.

The garden is looking good. Everything seems healthy and green. After a few days of rain we could do with some sun over here to encourage the flowers to open.

Hope you've had a lovely weekend and that all goes well at your appointment tomorrow. xx

    1. Thank you, Suzanne. Yes, I've been getting about 6 hours of sleep a night, but I guess my body said it needed a bit more!

Dancer can't resist when I sit down to do some craft project. He has to be there to see what I am doing and what he can do to "help"! Often, it involves plopping himself down on top of whatever it is! LOL.

I'll send you some of our sunshine (and heat, too, if you like - it's been in the upper 80s, these past few days) in exchange for some of your rain!

      Have a lovely week!

    1. Thank you, Sharon. I actually don't much care for the taste of raw tomatoes, but like to add them to various dishes that I cook. I'm a bit weird that way! LOL.

  3. Glad you had some extra sleep. I've been catching up lately and I finally made some blackout liners for our bedroom drapes so that we don't get woken by the sun at 4.30 or 5 am! This really helps.

Good to see that Dancer is "on top of things" (literally) as usual!

    1. Ha, ha, that he is, Bushlady! You can count on him to be on top of things! :D

Glad you are getting more sleep, yourself. I just need to go to sleep earlier, but that's not happening!

  5. Sounds like your body was telling you that it really did need all the extra sleep. I'm glad you listened to it. ;)

That Dancer kitty, what a good little helper he is. ;)

Your plants are looking really good. I have a tomato plant that is in distress and I cannot figure out why as all the other plants are doing well. I'm doing what I can to revive it, but we shall see if it helps.

    1. Yes, I guess I really needed the sleep. Dancer is a very good helper kitty! I hope you are able to revive your tomato plant. They tend to be fussy, in our weather - gets too hot for them and then they don't produce well.
