Quiet Weekend

I've spent a quiet weekend.  I'm feeling much better, but I've not felt very energetic, so, I've been resting and taking it easy.

Saturday was a cool, overcast day with hazy sunshine.  Daughter slept in and I spent a quiet morning, reading blogs, etc.  Once she woke up, I asked her if she'd like to go out to brunch, but she declined and so, we ate what we had in the fridge.  She ate some leftover mung beans and I had some of the carne asada and pinto beans burrito she had brought home from her dinner out with friends on Friday night.  Later in the afternoon, I took a long nap on the sofa.  Daughter went out with her friends, Saturday evening, to participate in another escape room adventure and dinner out.  I spent a quiet evening at home and had some leftover soup for my dinner, along with some toast.  Later, daughter and I shared a piece of ice cream cake for dessert.  One of my aunts called and I had a nice chat with her.

Sunday was another cool and overcast day with a shower of rain in the morning; but the afternoon was clear and sunny.  Daughter's friends had planned a surprise outing for her!  All she had been told was to bring her appetite! They came to pick her up at 10:30 a.m. and she didn't come home until 10:00 p.m.!  Apparently, they had gone out for Korean barbecue, followed by a tour of the Warner Brothers Studios, and then, dinner out!  These are friends she's known from her school days - one since 4th grade, others since middle school, and one since high school.  I am glad she was able to visit with them while she was down here for the weekend.

I spent a quiet morning, relaxing.  My neighbor called and we had our weekly Sunday morning chat.  Lunch was a tuna sandwich and I took another long nap in the afternoon!  I had originally planned to go grocery shopping in the afternoon, but I didn't feel up to it, so decided to skip it.  I will grocery shop later in the week.  Instead, I did a load of dishes and wiped down the kitchen counters.  That was the extent of my productivity for the day!  In the evening, I called one of my friends and had a nice chat with her.  Dinner was more leftover soup and another tuna sandwich.

This weekend, I was grateful for:
- My daughter was able to get together with her various friends and enjoy celebrating her birthday with them.
- A welcome shower of rain, which meant I didn't have to water the garden, again.
- Long, afternoon naps!
- A quiet, restful weekend.
- Phone conversations with family and friends.

Tomorrow, my daughter will return to Berkeley and I will try to get a few things done.

Monday's To Do List:

- Office work (work from home)
- Take daughter to the airport
- Clean out fridge
- Empty waste baskets/kitchen trash, etc.
- Take trash cans to the curb
- Clean the litter box
- Load of laundry

How was your weekend?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. Your daughter is obviously as well loved by her friends as you are by yours Bless. What a lovely birthday treat.

I think we need to return to the escape room again, we promised ourselves we would as we enjoyed it so much. I need to find an easier one though because Thomas would love to crack the clues and get out in time.

Glad your weekend has been a restful and happy one. xx

    1. They are a lovely group of young people, Suzanne. They were so supportive of her when I was diagnosed, offering to come and run errands for me, etc. The mother of one of them came and cleaned the litter box for me as I was told not to clean it during chemo.

I hope you find another, easier escape room. I'm sure Thomas would enjoy it.

Hope you have a lovely week, Suzanne. Take care.

  2. Sounds likes a quiet weekend is what you needed. Hope that it helped restore your health. I want to tidy up the attic today, whether I get to it, is another story. Ha!

  6. I can relate to your weekend with your lovely daughter. We never know when our youngest son who is single comes home how much time we will spend with him because he also likes to visit and have fun with his friends who live here. We just enjoy the time we do have and are very happy for him. I hope your daughter is safely back home. It's always a bit of a worry isn't it? I always track his flight on www.flightview.com or something similar.

I was at the lab by 7:15 am for blood work (routine). Came home and had my usual pot of tea, oatmeal and a poached egg. I do like my breakfast. I made up some more jello, made a meat loaf and prepared the vegetables for dinner.

    1. Sandy, I hope your blood work comes back with all good results. Glad you had a good breakfast and your dinner sounds pretty good, too. I haven't made meatloaf in a long time - I don't know why; just lazy to cook, I think!

Daughter's flight was delayed by 3 hrs., but she managed to have herself put on stand-by on another flight and will take that, instead. It still means she'll get back to her apartment 2 hrs. later than planned, but it's better than 3 hrs. later.

  7. Are you getting used to the rain, since you didn't have it for so long before this?

    1. I don't know if I'll ever get used to the rain! Our rainy season will end in April. We rarely get any rain in the summer and who knows how wet the next rainy season (which will start in October) will be?

  8. Sounds as if you had a lovely weekend, sometimes we just need to rest, it is lovely that your daughter was able spend time with her childhood friends.
Its the end of Tuesday here, and I have done my fortnightly shop, I hardly needed to buy anything, only perishables. I was so tired when I got in I needed a nap, fell asleep for 2 hours, lol!

SO happy daughter had a nice visit and enjoyable time with friends for her birthday..
I had a nice weekend.. Worked in the yard on Saturday.. Nice and sunny. It turned cold on Sunday.. [that is our spring weather,ha]. Daughter and granddaughters came Sunday..We enjoyed their visits, and hearing about the girls Pom meetings and dance routines..They are so funny and keep us laughing.
