All Dressed for Work

Saggy, Baggy, Warm, and Comfy!

Or not!  LOL.  Oh, the joys of being able to work from home, dressed in my comfy clothes!  But I just can't show up at the office dressed like this, can I?  We don't have a dress code as such, but "business casual" is expected.

Yes, the heater is on, set at 75F.  Yes, I am dressed in a sweatshirt and sweatpants, a wool blend cardigan I knitted at least 15 years ago, socks and a wool scarf.  Have I mentioned that I feel cold easily?

My office is much colder than my house.  I will be dressed in multiple layers, that's for sure!

I had planned to do some clothes shopping before I returned to the office, but the recent couple of falls sent those plans flying!  Seems like every time I think I'm getting back to normal, something else happens that makes me take a step back.  Last night, I couldn't fall asleep and then, around 4:00 a.m., I started sweating and shaking; yes, my sugar levels were too low (I had eaten a fruit cup, earlier, but that was around 10:00 p.m. while I was still video chatting with my daughter).  I panicked a bit (didn't want to faint again!) and ate the leftover pancakes with fish curry.  Then, I felt better, and slept until 10:00 a.m.  I had considered going shopping for a pair of pants this afternoon, but I decided to stay home and rest, instead.  I will manage with the clothes I have for a few more days.   If the pants I have are a bit on the baggy side, it won't matter much.

I do wish I hadn't altered my favorite woolen skirt - the wait band was too tight; I let it out and wore it a couple of times after that.  Now, it sits on my hips!

  1. You are too funny, Bless! Could you shop online to avoid having to go shopping after work? Having them delivered to your home is so much easier. And you are so right ... any office will be cold in comparison to your toasty warm home. Are you allowed to have a small, safe space heater in your work area?

    1. The online shopping is a possibility, except, I no longer know what my size is! I think I'd like to try on a pair of pants before I order it. I have a particular brand and cut that I like; just have to go and see what my size is!

Space heaters are technically not allowed, although I know of at least one person who has one under her desk! I'll see how things work out. Maybe I can wear my sweatpants under my too baggy regular pants! :D

  2. Maybe not stylish but definitely comfy and warm, which is what you needed today! Can a friend or cousin go shopping with you so you're not alone in case your sugar levels drop again?

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. :) Yes, that's what I am hoping - that a friend or cousin will accompany me. I will ask my cousin if she's free (I know she likes to go shopping). If not, I'll make sure I eat before I go and carry my bottle of water (plus I usually have a snack in my purse).

  3. My sister keeps a pair of wool socks, arm warmers and a lap throw in the desk drawer of her office because the temp is set for people much warmer natured than she. Maybe something like that could help at work.
Hope you find something you feel like wearing without any complications.

    1. That lap throw sounds like a good idea! I know of one colleague who used to have a blanket on her lap when she was at her desk. Of course, a lap throw might mean that I'll never get up from my chair since I'm nice and warm, but I will bundle up the crocheted throw I have and take it with me, tomorrow. Thank you for suggesting this! :)

    2. Anne, thanks again for the suggestion about the lap throw! I took my "blankie" to the office and had it on my lap during the afternoon! It will stay in my desk drawer from now on!

    1. Thank you, Judy! Yes, I am praying my health will improve. All else pales in comparison, doesn't it?

  6. I'm looking at the photo and I can totally feel how comfortable you are. I wear jogging bottoms around the house lately and nice loose tops as well. For some reason the more comfy my clothes are the warmer I feel - don't ask me to explain I can't :)

Glad you managed to sort your sugars out. Mum lives on her own and she says one of the worst things about it is when she's ill and there's nobody on hand. She's very independent though and doesn't like to ask for help, which in the long term can sometimes make things worse! xx

    1. Thank you, Suzanne. I'm a real fashion plate when I am at home! :D

Yes, being alone when one is not feeling well is no fun. But you are a caring daughter and I'm sure you are there for her when she needs you. :)

  7. I am amused to see your baggy grey pants because I am wearing a very similar pair of old favourites which I love to put on to putter around the house.
I'm glad you caught up with your sleep. We had howling gales at 5 am and I was awake for ages but too tired to get out of bed. I kept thinking that if we were smart we would both be down in the basement in case a tree fell! We slept in late in the end.

    1. That sounds like a terrible wind storm, Bushlady! I'm glad no trees fell on you! Glad you were able to sleep in.

  8. Blue jeans are my home comfort choice. I wear them all the time. But my Sweetie wears jogging pants. He says they are the most comfortable clothes because the waistband is most forgiving, especially since his cancer treatment began.

    1. I think blue jeans are dressier than sweatpants any day (I am assuming that's the same as your jogging pants?), but I've never found a comfortable enough pair of jeans! My daughter likes fleece pants to relax in.

  9. I know it sounds crazy, but I get the sense that purple really suits you. That cardigan doesn't look 15 years old. You must have done a good job on it. x

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. Purple is my color! :D The cardigan is a favorite, even if it is miles too big, now (I had intended it to be a bit oversized, even when I made it).
