Rainy Thursday

Christmas Gift in the Making

We had a mostly overcast day with just a bit of hazy sunshine in the late morning.  It started to rain around 4:00 p.m. and it has rained all evening into night.  It is just past 11:00 p.m. now, and it is still raining.  A slow but steady rain.  The garden is getting a good watering; I am glad.

I spent most of the day doing office work.  Later, I started to crochet a Christmas gift, using yarn I had in my stash.  I haven't finished it yet and I don't want to reveal too much of it, just in case the recipient is reading my blog!  But I'll take a picture of it and post, later.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Office work - DONE
- Paperwork/filing
- Change my bedsheets
- Do a load of laundry

I am afraid I didn't do much of my to do list, today!  It will all be carried over to tomorrow, instead!

Friday's To Do List:
- Hydration appointment
- Office work
- Paperwork/filing
- Change my bedsheets
- Do a load of laundry
- Start writing my holiday cards!

Today, I am grateful for:
- The rain!
- Being able to make some of my Christmas gifts
- The yarn in my stash
- Knowing how to crochet
- Cousins checking on me

How was your Thursday?  Are you done with all your gift making and gift buying?

  1. Slow and steady rain. The best kind. We're going to be getting our rain in the form of ice tonight.

  2. That's pretty pink yarn! Wonderful that you've had a nice rain. Do you have any problems with your soil washing out or away due to the lack of grass to retain the soil? I recall you mentioned that your grass lawn died due to the long drought. Your flowers and fruit trees will be grateful for the rain!

    1. Oh, dear! I really should have said that the yarn was red in my post! For some reason, it showed up pink in the picture.

The garden is very grateful for the rain! So far, however, I've not had any problems with my soil washing away. I think it is too compacted!

  3. I like the colour of the crocheting. I can't guess what it might be! Thursday here was cold and snowy (have the days been anything else lately?). I stayed in and got some Christmas wrapping done. I am trying to plan what else needs to be done. I am thankful I have a nice warm house during this bitterly cold weather.

    1. It is actually red, but the light changed the color in the picture!

I heard on the news that it is bitterly cold up where you are. Stay warm and dry!

  4. I don't know what you are crocheting, but it is an AWESOME colour. It's good that the rain is slow, it will soak in better. Not that I usually have to worry here, but I'm glad you can rest instead of worrying about watering the garden. x

    1. LOL, the color is actually red, but it came out more raspberry than red in the picture!

My garden got a good, deep watering from the rain! I am so happy!

    1. It's supposed to be red! The color didn't come out true in the picture. But I do like the color in the picture, too. Might have to go to the shops and look for that specific shade of yarn!

You are so organized, Judy! How lovely to have all the Christmas shopping done! Glad you were able to fix on a day when all the family can gather to celebrate. A couple of days early, but that doesn't matter too much, does it?

  6. So glad you have been getting some rain. Intrigued by the mystery crochet gift, it is a pretty colour and I'm sure you are enjoying working on it.

I still have one or two gifts to get. I've finished wrapping gifts for granddaughter and am excited for her to open them. Some other gifts have been wrapped or bagged. Those gift bags are certainly useful for awkward items that might need a box otherwise to wrap them. I like that most of us reuse them, too.

The temperature came up to something a little more bearable today so I was able to walk to my friend's house where a few ladies I know were gathering. We may get snow tonight, hoping it will not be too much. I put off driving to town today but tomorrow we will need bread and a few other items for sure. But I find that one can often improvise for a day or two if necessary, if the pantry and freezer have something in them!

    1. Oh, I am sure your granddaughter will love her gifts from you! Yes, gift bags are a wonderful thing, aren't they? I definitely reuse my gift bags!

I am way behind with my gifts, this year, but it doesn't matter too much because I won't be seeing the majority of my family and friends till after the New Year. So I have plenty of time!

Glad you were able to walk to your friend's house. Hope you are able to get your shopping done without any difficulty due to the weather.
