November Balanced Life Goals

For the most part, I live each day as it comes.  I don't analyze things too much and I don't really ponder on the meaning or purpose of my life.  :)  However, throughout my life, I have had some life goals, as I like to call them.  Life goals are the big goals I try to achieve.  One of those life goals is a well balanced life.

My monthly goals are a tool I use to achieve a sense of balance between the different segments of my life, so that I don't feel one particular aspect is taking up more time and energy while other aspects are being pushed aside or ignored.  This month, I am listing the main objective or goal I am trying to achieve through the monthly goals in order to show how they tie in and the reasoning behind some seemingly random activities.  My intention is to do something in each area at least once a week.

Spiritual:  The goal is to live a spiritually meaningful life.
- Continue with daily prayers and gratitude
- Prepare for the December almsgiving - set the date; invite participants; make the menu
- Attend the November monthly prayer gathering
- Continue to focus on joy, abundance, blessings

Environment:  The goal is a clean, tidy, uncluttered house and a well-maintained garden.
- Continue with the cleaning and tidying; focus on my bedroom and the 3rd bedroom
- Continue to work on establishing the cleaning routine in order to maintain the cleaned areas
- Resume decluttering

Daughter:  The goal is to continue to have a close relationship with her.
- She will be coming down twice in November!  Once for my birthday and again for Thanksgiving  :)  In between, we'll keep in touch by phone and computer.

Family:  The goal is to keep in touch with various family members.
- I'll see some of the family members at the November prayer gathering
- Attend a cousin's daughter's Sweet Sixteen birthday celebration
- Get together with an aunt and cousins for Thanksgiving dinner
- Cousin has offered to accompany me to my radiation oncologist appointment

Friends:  The goal is to keep in touch with friends.
- I'll be seeing some of my friends at the prayer gathering
- Go to dinner with one friend

Career:  The goal is to continue to do work which I enjoy (for the most part) and which enables me to support myself.
- Continue to work from home and turn in quality work products in a timely manner

Finances:  The goal is financial security.
- Continue budgeting and spending mindfully
- Meet with my financial planner (appointment has been made)

Health:  The goal is good health.
- Get my prescription filled!
- Go to the follow up appointment with radiation oncologist scheduled for November 19
- Continue to focus on a healthier diet, exercising regularly, and getting sufficient sleep

Time Management:  The goal is having enough time to do all what I want to do!
-  Organize myself and put routines into place so I have enough time for work and for play!

Leisure/Crafts/Hobbies/Me-Time:  The goal is to relax doing something I enjoy doing for the pleasure of it.
- Celebrate my 61st birthday!  :)
- Make some cards
- Read a book (or more)
- Make some holiday gifts

Have you made any goals for November?  Please share if you have.

  1. You are so organized! My goals for November are to try to get going on some projects or initiatives that I had said I would accomplish in 2016. So I'm going to have a "theme-a-day" to encourage myself to actually work on that category of goals. For instance, naming yesterday "Garden Day" actually made me enjoy the backyard for a few hours and then do some gardening chores that I wouldn't have done otherwise. I did get started on reading some of the books on my "To Read in 2016" list (I'm on my 3rd book that's on the list!). As for the other theme days, I think I'll have "Photography Thursday" because I have got to make *some* progress in understanding how to use my dSLR. And on Fridays I'll try to focus on all things financial. I really need to take a look at our portfolio and do other tasks around that, things that I really dislike doing and that I haven't touched since January! So my goals are nebulous, but I have a long list of goals that I had written for 2016 that I can refer to. Ideally, I'd like to be done with my Christmas shopping by 11/15 since that's when my 10% Rewards offer on one of my credit cards expire, but that probably won't happen since I have no idea of what to get, for the most part. In the meantime, I'm going to stock up on things like the expensive cat and kitten food, baking supplies and other non perishables that are on sale this time of year.

Good luck with your November goals, Bless!

    1. Thanks, Nathalie. Good luck with accomplishing your goals, too. I like the concept of naming each day and assigning tasks to that day. One is more likely to get things done, that way.

Maybe get gift cards for everyone this year for Christmas and have them do their own shopping during the after-Christmas sales? Will you still get your 10% rewards if you purchase gift cards?

    2. I would, but I prefer to give them cash so they can use it as they see fit (I actually give them checks to deposit in their account. My older boys are so messy, they would lose the gift card). I am, however, going to buy the January birthday presents this week!

    3. That sounds like a plan! You'll start off the new year super organized! My mother and I used to buy my daughter's birthday gifts when things were on sale after Christmas. Just don't be like me and say, "Now where did I put that gift?" :D One year I hid my daughter's Christmas gifts in the clothes dryer and then I forgot where I had put them till after Christmas! LOL.

  2. Fantastic goals, Bless! My major goal for November is to make it through the month completing my school work on time and meeting all the obligations of my job, too. It's crunch time.

I loved your daughter's strawberry costume.

  3. You say you don't analyze things too much, but you've done a very good analysis of how to work on a balanced life. An impressive list of goals. Good luck with accomplishing them.

    1. Thank you! Goals can change, too, from time to time, for whatever reason. Sometimes, because one has achieved them; sometimes, because those goals no longer seem to apply. I have come to a stage in my life where my ultimate goal is to live out the rest of my life to the best of my abilities. To me, that means a well balanced life. :)

  4. Hi Bless, I think you have some wonderful goals there. I think setting goals gives us something to aim for and writing them down really helps remind us to do so. :) Great job!

    1. Thank you, Debbie. I think one needs to be careful when making goals to keep them more or less attainable. But having goals and working towards them is very satisfying. :)
