Monday's Productivity

On Monday, I did some office work, responded to work emails, and exchanged emails with my supervisor.

Since Monday is when I am supposed to clean the kitchen (according to the cleaning schedule I made back in September), I tidied the kitchen cabinet where I store various things including kitchen sponges, spare rolls of foil, boxes of food storage bags, trash bags, etc.  This cabinet gets messy rather quickly as I pull things out and it's been awhile since I last tidied it.  I generally like to keep at least one spare box of different sized food storage bags, foil, wax paper, etc., so I took the opportunity to take stock of what I had and what I needed to buy for the rest of the year, especially with the almsgiving coming up in December.

In the early evening, I went to the pharmacy to find out what is happening with my medications.  Well, apparently I've reached my insurance plan's limit on that particular type of antibiotics, which is why that particular prescription hasn't been filled.  They claim they never received the other prescription request from the doctor's office even though I called the doctor's office last Friday.  It was too late to call the doctor's office when I came home, so I'll need to call them tomorrow.

After the pharmacy, I went to the dollar store to stock up on foil, wax paper, cling wrap, and snack bags.  And then, I did some grocery shopping (will do a separate post on that) and picked up some air fresheners.  They were the same price at the grocery store ($.99 each) as at the dollar store, but I had a store coupon for $.60 off on the purchase of 3, so it was cheaper for me to buy them at the grocery store.

October 24 Non-food Purchases
After I came home, I took the trash cans to the curb for trash pick up on Tuesday and exchanged greetings with one of my neighbors who was taking out his trash cans, too.

I spent the rest of the evening relaxing.  One of my aunts called and I chatted with her.  Once of my friends called and I chatted with her, too.  Then, I video chatted with my daughter.  In between, I read blogs and commented.  And watched TV.

On Monday, I was grateful for:
- A cooler day
- Getting the kitchen cabinet organized
- A safe drive to the shops and back
- Phone calls from family and friends
- Video chatting with daughter

Tuesday's To Do List:

- Office work
- Call the doctor's office
- Bring trash cans in
- Dust/tidy/vacuum my bedroom
- Water the front garden

How was your Monday?

  1. You shop really well. You have to be so deft at shopping to keep up with all the deals. Over here, the pound shop (equivalent of the dollar shop, I guess) is sometimes not as inexpensive as the grocery shop with deals.

I hope the antibiotics are sorted out soon x

    1. Yes, the dollar stores are the equivalent of pound shops; in general, everything is $1 or less, although, more recently, I see some items selling for more ($1.99 each, for example!) In general, items are cheaper at the dollar stores, but, when things go on sale and/or you have coupons, then, they can be cheaper at the grocery store. One just has to be aware of the regular prices of things one buys on a regular basis.

  2. Our local dollar store (Canada) has many things that cost more than a dollar so we also have to be sure that we are actually getting a bargain when we shop there. Another thing we have to be aware of is that there is a "no returns" policy at the dollar store, so one must be sure that any dearer item is good and also needed - no changing one's mind after buying!

    1. I checked my receipt to see what this particular dollar store's return policy was (there are a couple of chains of dollar stores); the receipt says "Exchange or store credit within 9 days of purchase, up to 9 items with receipt. Seasonal items are final sale". Which seems reasonable enough.

  3. If you have Dollar Tree near you, they accept manufacturer coupons but I think only 4 per shopping trip or something like that. I've used coupons there before and they always scrutinize them as though they have never seen a coupon before.

I'm sorry about the mess with the antibiotic. So it's been a week now since you should have started taking it and you're still no closer to starting your treatment! Something is wrong with the health care "industry" in this country. It's ridiculous that we have to go through hoops like this! I didn't get a chance to call around to figure out why I got a bill for $225 for my daughter's visit to the ophthalmologist when we have insurance and my co-pay should have been something like $30. I need to deal with this tomorrow, ugh.

Good luck in getting your situation straightened out.

    1. Thanks, Nathalie. I do have a Dollar Tree near me! Two of them, as a matter of fact. I've never tried using coupons there, though. However, the coupon I had for the air freshener was a store coupon, not a manufacturer's coupon. The store sends me various coupons based on what I purchase (they get the info because I use the store club card).

I called the doctor's office today and spoke with the person in charge of prescriptions and she was going to leave a message for the doctor. I'll give them a day or so and call back as needed. I hope you get your bill sorted out.

    1. Glad you are making progress on your fall cleaning, Judy. I'm not doing fall cleaning, specifically, but I find that certain cabinets and drawers need a regular organizing to stay tidy.
