Still Hot on Wednesday

Yet another hot day, but the morning wasn't too bad.  The afternoon and early part of the evening was hot.

I had a productive day.  I did office work, put away the washed dishes, watered the front garden, and cleaned my bathroom.  I am still trying to follow the cleaning schedule I made for myself, but I need to adjust it a bit more.

I boiled two eggs and made egg salad for lunch.  For dinner, I made honey sesame chicken:

Dinner
I cooked rice and stir-fried some broccoli and carrots to go with the chicken.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to work from home, still
- A productive day
- Listening to music while I work
- Cool mornings and nights
- Phone call from aunt

How was your Wednesday?

  2. A month has gone by and you are still keeping up with your cleaning schedule. Good for you. And in this heat you are experiencing, you should get Brownie points.

I laughed when I saw your comment about tourists the other day. I haven't been to California, but I have been in Florida in January/February, and I am "those people" who wear shorts and T-shirts. I have gone swimming in January in Florida. Yes the air is cold, but the water is heavenly. Some days may be cool, but we are still going to take advantage of the comparatively warmer temps. There are some fool-hardy Canadians who still wear shorts here with snow on the ground. I'm not quite there yet. Ha.

We lived for seven years in Thunder Bay, just across the border from you in Wisconsin. We may have been neighbours at that point, so I know that you have lived through some really cold weather.

    1. Susan, I do admit I haven't kept to the cleaning schedule as faithfully as I should, especially in the heat. But, I am trying to keep to it as much as I can.

Yes, I, too, was one of those crazy tourists, one year, when I was in Wisconsin (Green Bay) and came down to California one winter. I left in a snow storm with a windchill factor of 30 below! Arrived in So. Cal. and it was 62F! My sister was bundled up in her winter coat and I was peeling off layers as I walked through the airport to her car! :D

  3. What spices and sauces do you use for your stir fry dishes and the honey sesame chicken? Sounds really good!

    1. Carolyn, the honey sesame chicken had honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ketchup, and red pepper flakes. The recipe also called for garlic and ginger, but I didn't have any, so I didn't add them. The stir-fry just had a bit of soy sauce.

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. I retreated to the bedroom, this afternoon, and turned on the a/c! Tomorrow is supposed to be hot, too, but the weather forecast says it'll be cooler over the weekend, with highs of only 78F. :)

  5. The food looks delicious.
The good thing about to do list---- it's changeable.. and sometimes, it takes doing it, to figure out what works best.. You are doing a great job..
We had beautiful weather today.. Low 70's.. I washed quilts/bedspreads and hung them to dry.. So nice. Made a pot of home made chili and it was so fall like.. Love fall.
I am happy you are getting to work from home.. Give you time to get your strength built up. How is your appetite? Is your taste coming back yet? praying for you

    1. Thank you, Judy. So glad you had nice weather. Sounds like you were very productive, too. My appetite is still so-so. My taste is coming back - I can taste salt now. But sweets still tastes mostly bitter (probably a good thing, as I am not eating as much dessert!).
