Saturday

I had an email from one of my long-time friends, this morning, checking on me.  We were in school together since at least 2nd grade (maybe even since 1st grade, but I don't remember her from then; only from 2nd grade onward) and were best friends in high school.  I left high school in 1973.  We've managed to keep our friendship going in the 43 years since then!

Later, in the morning, I enjoyed video chatting with another of my friends.  She and I exchange almost daily emails and have been doing that for several years, but we have also started video chatting, occasionally, and that's a lot of fun, too.

Brunch was a bowl of spicy garbanzo beans from the freezer:

In the afternoon, I did a load of laundry and started on the second go around of my cleaning schedule.  The first week of cleaning didn't go quite as I had planned, but I did well enough.  I have also managed to keep things maintained for the most part, so, the second week of cleaning should be easier to implement.  So, today, I dusted and vacuumed the living room and dining area.  It took me 15 minutes to dust and 15 minutes to vacuum, at a fairly leisurely pace.  I can handle 30 minutes of house cleaning per day.  *smile*  But I know the next room, the family room, will take longer, simply because I have more things to clean in there.

Later in the evening, I video chatted with my daughter.  I made fried rice for dinner with leftover rice, the last of the bacon I had in the freezer, an egg, some cashews, broccoli florets, etc.  Fresh peach for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Friends and friendships that have lasted years
- New ways of keeping in touch - emails and video chatting, etc.
- A sunny but not too hot day
- Video chatting with my daughter
- Getting today's cleaning done

This week's Dancer picture:  his eyes are half open, but he's fast asleep:

How was your Saturday?

  1. Awww he looks so fuzzy! I want to rub his tummy tum-tum. Sorry, fuzzy cat bellies are irresistible!

How lovely to hear from an old friend! I also got an email from an old friend from my native country this week! I've known her since Kindergarden and we were best friends until about 4th grade when my parents divorced and I had to change schools. Then we were friends again in high school and college. I introduced her to her husband. I was working as a nurse's aid at the local hospital one summer and he was in for surgery on his leg. Part of my job was to help clean patients so I always joke with her that I knew him intimately first since I had to give him a sponge bath, lol. I visited them last year and met their kids, it was lovely. She still looks the same as she did when we were teens and I'm jealous, lol.

I could never get into video calls, I dislike those very much. Of course, I don't like talking on the phone at all, email is where it's at for me :)

Glad to hear you're taking it is easy with the cleaning. It sounds like your plan is working for you!

As you already know, I went for a walk with Greg at a local nature conservation park yesterday (Sat) and it was lovely. I'm not sure what today will bring. I should do some cleaning myself but the motivation isn't strong, lol. I did unload the dishwasher at 5:00 a.m. while I was waiting for the kitten formula to warm up, so all I need to do now is reload it. And then maybe I'll call it a day? If Greg goes fishing, I'll put a DVD of Law & Order on (he hates it!) and then I'll finally fold my laundry while watching it. Oh yeah, big plans! Well I'm off to contact the Orlando Sentinel as my Sunday paper has not been delivered to my driveway... Have a great Sunday, Bless :)

    1. It's Sunday, Nathalie, a day of rest, so if you want to take the day off to rest and play, then go ahead. It should be fine. :) Besides, you have your hands full with kitten duties. Hope you have a lovely day.

  2. Dancer looks far too cute! I have seen that, and when their eyes start moving and the paws are going it can be quite unnerving. Those beans look nice. x

    1. It's a good thing he's so cute, because that's his saving grace! He had eaten too much too quickly, yesterday morning, and had thrown it up for me to find when I woke up! I almost stepped in it as I walked into the family room with my morning cup of tea! Not what I want to see, first thing in the morning!

  3. Lovely photo of Dancer. Isn't it great to keep in touch with friends for years and years? I have some from way back, too.

You mentioned bacon from the freezer which reminded me that I had some leftover cooked bacon in the freezer which we can have sometime for BLTs for lunch if I heat it up in the microwave. Mmmm, I could almost go for one now!

We went down to the river and walked along the beach both ways, such a beautiful afternoon, not too hot, and a good wind. DH would have gone sailing but neither of his pals down there were free. If the wind's up tomorrow he will probably get out on the water.

    1. Sounds like a lovely afternoon, Bushlady, walking along the river. I hope your husband gets to go sailing, tomorrow. Will you be sailing with him? Enjoy your BLTs. :)

    2. I haven't been sailing for several years, now, it is okay when it is just a breeze but in a small boat with whitecaps it is hair-raising! I think those days are over for me.
