Thursday's Activities

Today, I had two medical appointments in the morning: a blood test and the radiation treatment.  I went for the blood test, first.  I got to the lab around 9:30 a.m., to give myself enough time if there was a long wait (my appointment for the radiation treatment was at 11:30 a.m. and it takes me about an hour to get there from home).  There were several other people ahead of me, but the wait was not too bad.  I was done with my lab work shortly after 10:00 a.m.

I knew I'd be early, but I left for the radiation treatment directly from the lab, as there was a freeway entrance only a few blocks away.  I got to the radiation clinic around 10:40 a.m.   I had just settled down to read my prayer book while I waited, when the technician saw me.  She was surprised to see me so early, but she called me in right away, which was very nice of her, I thought.  So I was done with my treatment by 11:00 a.m. and home again before noon!

Spent the afternoon doing office work.  Then, took a long (2 hours) nap!  I guess I was tired!

Afterwards, I called a friend to wish her for her birthday, wrote to another friend, video chatted with daughter, cooked dinner, etc.

Breakfast had been a meal replacement drink, taken after the blood test.  Lunch was spaghetti with sauce.  Later, around 4:30 p.m., I had a craving for something like cake, so I reheated two date and cashew muffins I had made and frozen earlier.  They tasted somewhat bitter, but I ate them, anyway.  Dinner was a chicken breast, sliced and cooked with potatoes, carrots, onions, green peas, and celery.  The last of the fresh strawberries for dessert.

Today's decluttering were two sofa covers and twelve sofa cushion covers = 14 items.

I didn't take a picture as they are already rolled up and put into bags.  They are the covers for the two sofas in the family room.  Last October, I bought new replacement covers as the old covers were tearing as a result of Dancer cat sharpening his claws on them!  My intention was to use the new covers for the prayer meeting I hosted in October and then, put back the old covers for everyday use.  However, I was just after my surgery and couldn't use my arm much and taking off and putting back these particular sofa covers involved quite a bit of tugging and pulling.  Since I couldn't do it myself at the time and no one else was willing to do it (as it was, it took a friend, a cousin, and my daughter to get the old covers off and the new covers on and they wondered how I did it by myself in the past), the new covers were left on and have become the everyday covers.  So, I will get rid of the old covers.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Blood test and radiation treatment going well.
- Radiation technician taking me in early.
- Afternoon naps.
- Safe commutes to medical appointments.
- Being able to drive myself to these appointments.

How was your day?  Did you declutter anything today?

  1. I'm glad you had a good day and that you have surpassed 20% of your treatment! You continue to do a great job with your decluttering. No I haven't done any recently, but I know that once my son and I start cleaning his room and closet, I'll have bags of things to get rid off. I hope you have a great Friday.

  2. Hi Bless! I had a mental picture of everyone struggling with those covers and got to giggling. The struggle is real! I have to get help from my husband when I do mine. ;)

I spent part of my day running errands and doing some shopping. My hubby and I got packed this afternoon because we are heading up to see James Taylor in concert tomorrow night and spending the night up in Spokane, WA. It is our combined birthday gifts to each other this year. :)

I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Debbie, they were grumbling and complaining in a good-natured way the whole time and I was getting quite frustrated listening to them! I hope you have a lovely time at the concert and enjoy your visit to Spokane. One of my half-brothers live there!
