Birthday Cards

Birthday Cards

I needed two birthday cards for my friend and her daughter.  So, I pulled out my scrapbooking/card making supplies and made two cards.

Card stock, some colored papers, and a bit of paper with Happy Birthday printed on it.  I thought the green strip of paper on the 1st card looked a bit too plain, so, sewed a row of herringbone stitches with some embroidery floss.

I am a self-taught card-maker.  I haven't taken any classes, and I am sure it shows!  But that's OK.  I enjoy making them and it gives me the opportunity to be creative.

Every time I need a card and decide to make one, I tell myself that I should make a few in advance and keep them ready, rather than rush to make a card at the last minute.  That way, I'll have more time to plan things out and embellish the cards a bit more.  But that will be another project for another day. I guess.  I do have to make another birthday card for another friend's upcoming birthday; I'll try to make that ahead of time.

Can I consider cardmaking as "paperwork"?  :D

Focus on abundance: a box full of scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies, all bought on clearance.

Do you make cards?   If so, have you taken cardmaking classes or are you self-taught?

  1. Bless, there is something so special about receiving a handmade card instead of a store bought printed one. How lovely that you could just dip into your supplies and come up with those two. I find that the things we make from what we have on hand often turn out rather well because creativity comes easily from what is available rather than planning from a blank sheet and going out for supplies!

    1. Bushlady, thank you! When I have a little more time, I am going to look at some card making ideas on-line and make a few in advance to have on hand.

  2. Very nice :-) I usually make the husband a homemade cars, but that's it. Mine never look as nice as yours do though.

  3. Bless. such beautiful cards.. Know they enjoyed receiving them. Handmade from the heart so much better than a bought card.. How nice that you have your stash built up, where you can just pull your stuff out, and make one.. How fun.

  4. Judy, thank you. I enjoyed scrapbooking, so had bought quite a bit of papers when they were on clearance, etc. Now, I don't scrapbook that much, so I need to use up the stash!
